The 2009 - 2010 Regina Public Schools Value-Added Assessment Schedule 

The following table outlines an implementation schedule of VAA for the 2009-2010 school year.

Our move toward VAA is in support of the Division’s Continuous Improvement Plan to define, to clarify, and to align essential curriculum outcomes and indicators with focused instruction as evidenced through measures of student achievement and growth. All Value Added Assessments are aligned with the essential outcomes identified by our teacher-lead teams that reviewed current curriculum. 

The collaborative scoring of VAA will occur in schools through a process of “teacher moderation” where teachers will collectively score a smaller number of papers, but in more depth. This will be one major part of the critical work of professional learning communities.

Professional development opportunities will be available as we move this assessment agenda forward. We strongly encourage schools to select a VAA Coordinator (could be the Principal, Vice-Principal, Learning Leader, interested teacher, etc.) to support the implementation of VAA at our schools.
