Writing Benchmark Anchor Papers
The regina Public writing benchmark anchor papers are available for teachers to download. Teachers may download and use them with their classes. (Note:The writing anchor papers are on the “RPS wiki”. Thus, they can only be accessed when you are at a Regina Public School or at the Regina Public School Board Office.)
Exemplars: Exemplars are actual pieces of student writing that are representative of each scoring level. They "anchor" the rubric to student writing at a particular grade; for this reason, they are sometimes called "anchor papers".
Teachers may want to go to the Writing Benchmark Help Page for ideas for preparing students for the writing assessment and for practical writing tips and ideas.
Teacher Tip: Share the rubric and exemplars with students and discuss what made the best pieces of writing good. Work together to revise the weaker pieces of writing to make them more effective.
